Datasensing LD46 Series
The LD46 Series offers a dedicated family of luminescence sensors engineered for fluorescent-mark detection, capable of detecting treated or glowing marks even on challenging surfaces. With UV high-power LED emission, excellent sensitivity on fluorescent targets, and fast switching up to 2 kHz, this series ensures precise, reliable detection in demanding manufacturing and inspection applications.
Design & Functionality
- The series uses a metal housing (die-cast aluminium or zinc alloy) in dimensions approx. 31Γ81Γ58 mm, providing robust mechanical protection and industrial mounting capability.
- Optical emission with UV-High-Power LED (approx. 375 nm) allows the sensor to βseeβ only visible light converted by fluorescent targets, making the detection independent of background colour or surface texture.
- Nominal sensing distances are variant-based: approximately 10-20 mm, 20-40 mm or 30-50 mm, depending on model optics β making the sensor adaptable to small-mark detection or moderate-span detection.
- Switching frequency up to 2 kHz and response time as low as ~250 Β΅s enable the sensor to operate in high-speed production lines with very short target exposure times.
- Output types include NPN/PNP digital and 0-5 V analog, and the sensor includes Teach-in push-buttons, bar-graph sensitivity indicator, and rotatable M12 five-pole connector for installation flexibility.
- The housing is rated IP67, ensuring protection against dust and humidity in industrial environments, and the electronics include reverse-polarity, short-circuit, over-voltage protections and EMI compliance.
Total Crossed Beams
(Here interpreted as providing a reliable, stable sensing field rather than literal crossed beams.)
- The LD46 series ensures a stable luminescent-mark detection zone, even when the target surface is uneven, non-homogeneous or intermittently fluorescent β such as raw wood, corrugated cardboard, fabric or ceramic tiles.
- This stability results in high detection reliability even in challenging materials and environments where standard contrast or colour sensors might fail.
Beam Pitch Options
(Here interpreted as selectable sensing distance variants.)
- Example variant: nominal 10-20 mm sensing distance (LD46-UL-715).
- Example variant: nominal 20-40 mm (LD46-UL-755).
- Example variant: nominal 30-50 mm (LD46-UL-735).
- Spot dimensions vary: ~2Γ8 mm at 10 mm distance, ~3Γ11 mm at 24 mm, ~4Γ15 mm at 50 mm β allowing adaptation to mark size and installation clearance.
- These options give designers flexibility in selecting the correct sensing span for their target size and mounting environment.
Intrinsic Synchronism
- The electronics are embedded and self-contained β there is no need for external synchronisation wiring or modules β simplifying installation and speeding commissioning.
- The Teach-in functionality and bar-graph sensitivity indicator make setup quick and reliable, reducing commissioning time and errors.
Operational Advantages
- Fluorescent-mark detection: With UV-LED emission and highly sensitive receiver, the LD46 series excels in detecting fluorescent marks that are invisible to the human eye, on any material, regardless of colour or background.
- High-speed performance: With switching frequencies up to 2 kHz and response times around 250 Β΅s, the sensor is suitable for fast-moving production lines, especially in packaging, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, wood processing and more.
- Robust industrial design: Metal housing, IP67 protection, rotatable connector and full electrical protections make the sensor suitable for demanding environments.
- Applications: Ideal for detecting fluorescent adhesives or markings on packaging lines, verifying fluorescent paints or lubricants in mechanical assembly, detecting fluorescent profiles in wood or ceramic-tile production, and any automation scenario where fluorescent-mark detection, small-span sensing, fast response, and industrial reliability are required.
