Datasensing S45 Series
The S45 Series presents a versatile family of miniature photo-electric sensors, engineered for tight-space installations, versatile optical modes, and industrial robustness. With models spanning from diffuse proximity (~800βmm), background suppression (~400βmm), polarized retro-reflective (7βm LED / 15βm Laser) and through-beam (15βm LED / 20βm Laser) in a compact body, the series offers exceptional flexibility, compact design, and robust functionality.
Design & Functionality
- The housing is extremely compact (12 Γ 34 Γ 20 mm) enabling installation in very confined machine frames, conveyor side-tags or automation modules.
- Optical mode variants include:
β’ Diffuse-proximity models with nominal sensing distances up to ~800 mm in LED versions.
β’ Background suppression models nominal ~400βmm (LED) allowing detection near backgrounds.
β’ Polarized retro-reflective models up to ~7βm (LED) or ~15βm (Laser) for reflector-type detection.
β’ Through-beam emitter/receiver models with spans up to ~15βm (LED) or ~20βm (Laser) for long-distance detection. - Switching frequency up to ~1 kHz and response time ~0.5 ms typical β enabling fast and reliable detection.
- Logic outputs: Selectable NPN/PNP, Light-On or Dark-On via Teach-in, with remote-teach input for rapid setup.
- Protection rating of IP67 & IP69K, making the S45 Series suitable for wash-down, dust-prone, or harsh industrial environments.
Total Crossed Beams

- The S45 Series delivers a stable detection zone across tight mounting spaces and varied target/background conditions β resulting in fewer missed detections and higher repeatability in automated systems.
- This reliability is particularly valuable in conveyors, packaging lines, electronics assembly or automotive-industry setups where mounting clearance is minimal but detection reliability cannot be compromised.
Beam Pitch Options
