Datasensing FS Series
The FS Series provides a highly compact and high-speed fibre-optic amplifier platform designed for machine-vision and automation environments requiring fast, precise sensing in very limited space. With a miniature cubic body, the series supports a wide variety of fibre optics, selectable logic/output, and high immunity to ambient light β delivering fast detection, flexible installation, and industrial reliability.
Design & Functionality
- The amplifier unit features extremely reduced dimensions (only approx. 49 Γ 26 Γ 15 mm) enabling integration into tight machine zones or sensor banks where space is restricted.
- It supports optical fibre heads (plastic or glass), making it adaptable to hard-to-reach detection points, narrow apertures or special mounting geometries.
- Logic outputs are selectable NPN or PNP, with NO or NC mode choice, providing broad compatibility with different control systems.
- A trimmer allows sensitivity adjustment, enabling fine-tuning of detection thresholds to match target size, fibre type, distance or ambient conditions.
- Switching frequency is up to 1 kHz and response time around 500 Β΅s, making the FS ideal for high-throughput conveyors or rapid object presentation.
- The unit offers full electrical protection (reverse-polarity, short-circuit auto-reset) and is rated IP67, ensuring reliable operation in industrial automation, dusty or splash-exposed environments.
Total Crossed Beams
(In this fibre-optic amplifier context, βtotal crossed beamsβ refers to the guarantee of consistent detection coverage across the sensing fibre path rather than literal optical beams.)
- The FS Series ensures a stable detection signal even when fibre optic heads are mounted in narrow or complex geometries, or where target presentation is variable.
- This results in reliable object detection, fewer mis-triggers and consistent performance even when targets move at high speed or backgrounds vary widely.
Beam Pitch Options
(Here interpreted as selectable sensing fibre head types and distances rather than literal beam spacing.)
- The nominal sensing distance depends on the optical fibre used (plastic or glass) and the connection geometry β giving flexibility in the mounting and detection range.
- Fibreβoptic heads can extend the sensing spot into tight or remote positions while the main amplifier remains compact, offering design flexibility in system layout.
- This flexibility allows integrators to pick the appropriate fibre head and amplifier variant to match target size, distance, environment and throughput.
Intrinsic Synchronism
- The electronics are fully integrated β no external synchronising wiring is required β simplifying wiring and installation.
- Time before availability after power-up is β€ 200 ms, allowing the system to be ready quickly and reducing commissioning downtime.
Operational Advantages
- Miniature footprint with full performance: In a very compact housing the FS Series delivers high-speed switching and flexible logic options for tight-space automation.
- Flexible fibre-optic compatibility: Allows detection in complex or hard-to-access positions, on small targets or inside machine contours.
- Selectable logic & high throughput: With NO/NC switch, NPN/PNP choice and 1 kHz switching, the sensor fits different control architectures and fast conveyors.
- Industrial robustness: IP67 rating, full protection features, and compact mounting make it suitable for automation, packaging machines, sorting equipment and vision systems.
- Applications: Ideal for fibre-optic sensing of small or moving parts, machine-vision feeder detection, compact packaging machines, robotics end-effectors and any environment where fast response, compact installation, and flexible fibre-optic detection are required.
