Datasensing S65-V Series
The S65-V Series delivers advanced colour detection in a compact housing, designed for integration into high-speed automation and inspection systems. With a small footprint, three independent output channels, selectable chromaticity & intensity modes, and optional RS-485 serial interface, this series provides precise colour/contrast sensing, rapid response, and versatile integration across packaging, sorting and manufacturing lines.
Design & Functionality
- The series uses a compact 50 Γ 50 Γ 25 mm housing, making it suitable for tight installation spaces while providing full-feature sensing capabilities.
- It features wide-spectrum white light LED emission, combined with an RGB photo-receiver, enabling robust colour detection even on opaque, shiny or reflective surfaces.
- The sensor supports three independent output channels (each NPN or PNP selectable), allowing simultaneous monitoring of different colours or conditions.
- Users can select either the C-algorithm (chromaticity) for larger depth of field, or C+I (chromaticity + intensity) algorithm for higher sensitivity to tone variations, including grey tones.
- The S65-V features two push-buttons for setup, a 4-digit display for feedback and configuration, plus optional RS-485 serial interface for remote configuration and monitoring.
- Typical nominal sensing distance is around 45 mm, with a spot size of approx. Γ 4 mm β optimized for precision applications.
- Built for industrial environments: supply voltage 10β¦30 V DC, output current β€100 mA, no-load current β€60 mA, and protection rating of IP67.
Total Crossed Beams
(In this sensor context, this means the device maintains full detection reliability across its sensing zone rather than literal crossed beams.)
- The S65-V ensures a stable and repeatable detection environment, even when target colours vary or surfaces are reflective, reducing the chance of missed detection or false colour reading.
- This reliability is critical in automated inspection and packaging lines where accurate colour recognition is a must.
Beam Pitch Options
(Here interpreted as selectable detection spans or variants)
- The standard model supports a sensing distance of around 5β45 mm (colour detection).
- Switching frequencies up to 1.5 kHz in the V09 variant, enabling rapid detection of fast-moving parts.
- These options allow selection of a variant of the S65-V series that suits target size, speed and mounting clearance β giving flexibility in system design.
Intrinsic Synchronism
- The electronics are self-contained and no external synchronisation wiring is needed β installation is simplified.
- Quick setup is enabled via push-buttons and display; remote control is possible via RS-485 in versions that support it.
- Response time can be as low as ~0.34 ms in some models, supporting high-speed inspection.
Operational Advantages
- High-speed, precision colour sensing: With colour emission + RGB receiver + 3 output channels, the sensor is optimized for sorting, packaging, quality control and part-presence tasks.
- Compact, adaptable housing: The 50Γ50Γ25 mm format allows integration into space-constrained equipment or retrofits while providing full feature set.
- Versatile detection algorithm: Users can choose C or C+I mode to suit application (opaque/reflective surfaces vs subtle tone differences).
- Industrial-grade build & connectivity: IP67 protection, selectable output logic, optional RS-485 interface and full electrical protections make the sensor ready for manufacturing environments.
- Applications: Ideal for packaging lines, colour-sorting systems, rubber/plastic part detection, wood/metal working processing, automotive assembly and any environment requiring reliable colour/contrast detection with high throughput.
