Datasensing Metal Face Series
The Metal Face Series delivers wide‐area metal detection in a uniquely designed flat‐face inductive sensor format, engineered for applications where standard cylindrical sensors cannot reliably cover the target field. By expanding the sensing face and using advanced electronics, these sensors provide consistent detection of metal parts across varied shapes, orientations and large surfaces.
Design & Functionality
- The sensor features a flat sensing face (rather than the typical cylindrical nose) which enables detection of metal objects over a broader area and across multiple target orientations—improving reliability when part orientation or presentation is inconsistent.
- With nominal sensing distances up to ~100 mm in the largest variants, the Metal Face Series allows detection of large metal plates, containers, pallets, conveyor loads or transport frames where a small sensor face might miss targets.
- Built in a robust metal housing (stainless steel or nickel-plated brass, as per model) with high protection rating (IP67 or better) and designed for industrial robustness, the sensor is suitable for heavy-duty applications such as intralogistics, metalworking and material handling.
- Built‐in electronics provide high switching frequency, excellent repeatability, protection against reverse‐polarity, short-circuit and surge conditions—making the sensor reliable in challenging environments with vibration, dust, welding spatter or heavy loads.
Total Crossed Beams
(In this inductive, flat‐face sensor context, this concept refers to the consistent, wide detection zone across the face rather than literal beams.)
- The Metal Face Series ensures a uniform detection zone across its large face, meaning metal targets are reliably detected even if they are skewed, at an angle or partially entering the field—reducing missed detections.
- As a result, you get repeatable detection performance across diverse part geometries and mounting conditions.
Beam Pitch Options
(Here, this corresponds to selectable sensing distance and face size rather than “beam pitch”.)
- Models are available in various face sizes and sensing distances, enabling selection of a sensor that fits the target area, clearance and required coverage—whether it’s a small plate at ~20 mm or a large pallet at ~100 mm.
- Repeat accuracy and detection stability are designed to remain high even at extended distances, ensuring consistent performance over time and varying ambient conditions.
Intrinsic Synchronism
- The electronics integrate timing, filtering and protection internally—no external synchronisation wiring is required, simplifying installation.
- Time-before-availability is short (model dependent), supporting rapid start-up in automated production or material-handling lines.
Operational Advantages
- Wide‐Area Coverage: The Metal Face Series excels in detecting metal objects over broad surfaces and orientations, making it ideal where standard point sensors fail due to part size or misalignment.
- Industrial Durability & Large Face Format: With flat‐face geometry, robust housing, and advanced electronics, the sensor is tailored for heavy-duty environments such as conveyors, loading zones, pallet detection, and steel-plate handling.
- Applications: Perfect for intralogistics conveyors, packaging and end‐of‐line systems, metal sheet feeders, welding automation loading, container detection and other systems where large metal surfaces, broad detection zones, and industrial reliability are required.
