Datasensing C12 Series

The C12 Series offers a flexible and space-saving solution for capacitive detection in industrial automation. With a fine sensing range and adjustable threshold, the C12 ensures precise detection of materials regardless of their composition or mounting environment.

Design & Functionality

  • The sensor is housed in a compact M12 Γ— 1 cylindrical body, making it ideal for tight installations.
  • It supports adjustable sensitivity (Teach-In) so you can calibrate the sensor to detect specific objects while ignoring background or mounting surfaces.
  • Available in shielded or unshielded versions, providing material-agnostic detectionβ€”metals, plastics, liquids or powders can all be detected reliably.

  • Maintains a consistent detection zone across the rated sensing distance, enabling reliable detection of small or thin items.
  • Helps reduce false triggers or missed detections in challenging background conditions.

  • Nominal sensing distances range from approximately 0.5 … 4 mm (shielded), and up to 0.5 … 8 mm (unshielded), depending on model.
  • The selectable range lets you tailor the sensor for ultra-short-range precision detection or slightly greater reach for larger targets.
  • Repeat accuracy is excellent (around Β±5%) and thermal drift is under 20%, ensuring consistent long-term detection performance.

Intrinsic Synchronism

  • The C12 incorporates built-in electronic synchronism and noise-immunity design, removing the need for external setup or multiple sensor alignment.
  • With automatic NPN/PNP output detection, NO/NC configuration and quick Teach-In capability, the sensor supports fast installation and reliable operation.

  • High Switching Reliability: Although switching frequency is modest (≀15 Hz), the C12 excels in stable detection scenarios where precision and repeatability matter.
  • Easy Configuration (Teach-In): Press-and-hold Teach-In button enables calibration of the background and target, allowing the sensor to be optimized for your specific application.
