Standards-based Check Valves

Standards-based Check Valves

Festo check valves are compact, high-performance non-return valves designed to permit free flow in one direction and reliably block reverse flow. They are ideal for pneumatic systems requiring backflow prevention, pilot-actuation, and integration in compact automation assemblies.

Festo Standards-based Check Valves

Festo’s standards-based check valves provide dependable one-way airflow control in pneumatic systems, ensuring that compressed air flows freely in the intended direction, while tightly blocking reverse flow. These valves are engineered for robust performance, high repeatability, and flexible mounting options.

Available in both standard non-return configurations and pilot-actuated variants, they support applications requiring intermediate stops, braking of actuators or safe positioning of cylinders.

Important: The non-return function with pilot actuation enables precise control over flow direction and reliable system safety and operation.

Design & Functionality

Check valves regulate the direction of compressed air by allowing full flow in one direction and sealing off reverse flow, either automatically or via a pilot signal. The pilot‐actuated versions permit flow in the blocked direction when a pilot pressure is applied—offering controlled release or unlocking of motion.

Festo’s check valve range includes:
• Standard non-return valves (simple one-way flow)
• Piloted non-return valves (with manual or pneumatic override)
• Variants with screw-in external thread or push-in fittings
• Wide range of thread sizes (M5, G1/8, G1/4, G3/8, G1/2) and flow ratings

These valves are designed for minimal leakage, fast response times and high durability—ensuring long service life even under continuous duty. Typical models support operating pressures from 0.2 to 10 bar, and nominal flow rates from ~110 l/min up to ~1500 l/min, depending on size.

Important: High flow capacity, compact size and pilot actuation variants make these check valves highly versatile for automation systems requiring safety locking or back-flow prevention.

Total Crossed Beams

Full directional control coverage through multiple check-valve families designed to manage flow lock, cylinder intermediate stop, back-flow prevention and pneumatic safety functions.

Ensures full operational capability regardless of flow size, mounting orientation or actuation requirement.

Designed to maintain stable sealing performance and low leakage across a broad range of application pressures and cycle frequencies.

Beam Pitch Options

Wide range of flow capacities, thread sizes and actuation variants to suit system requirements.

Selectable options include:
• Port/thread sizes from M5 to G1/2 or NPT equivalents
• Operating pressure ranges typically from 0.2 bar up to 10 bar
• Nominal flow rates from around 110 l/min up to 1500 l/min
• Piloted variants for cylinder braking, locking, or intermediate stops
• Standard and compact designs for tight installations

Important: The broad selection of port sizes, flow ratings and pilot-actuated designs ensures you can find the right check valve for virtually any pneumatic control or safety requirement.

Intrinsic Synchronism

Integrated valve spool and sealing mechanism provide consistent response and reliable non-return performance with minimal wear and hysteresis.

Optional rotatable mounting bodies (e.g., 360° rotatable versions) facilitate flexible installation, alignment and system integration. Festo+1

Ensures consistent directional sealing and flow control – supporting repeatable machine behaviour and safe pneumatic operation under varying load conditions.

Operational Advantages

• Precision one-way flow control for preventing backflow or securing actuators.
• Pilot-actuated unlocking for cylinder control, intermediate stops or safety locking.
• Compact, durable construction for long service life and low maintenance.
• ISO-compatible thread and mounting options for global interchangeability.
• Fast response and minimal leakage support high-cycle automation.

Applications: Machine tool automation, handling systems, packaging machines, pneumatic actuators with locking or braking, compressed-air distribution systems, safety circuits.
