Festo Proportional Pressure Control Valves

Festo’s proportional pressure control valves deliver advanced pneumatic regulation by converting electrical setpoint signals into finely controlled pressure outputs for pneumatic consumers. These valves are engineered for precise dynamic regulation, minimal hysteresis, and smooth response behaviour, making them suitable for demanding automation tasks.

They are available in a variety of variants offering different control ranges, nominal widths, and actuation methods—depending on the application’s pressure, flow and control-requirements.

Important: These valves offer continuous, analog regulation of output pressure (rather than simple on/off switching), enabling fine force or pressure control, improved process stability, and high machine repeatability.

Design & Functionality

The proportional pressure control valve operates by receiving an analogue input signal (such as 0–10 V or 4–20 mA), which dictates the target pressure at the outlet. Internal electronics or pilot circuitry adjust the valve’s internal spool or poppet position to regulate the exhaust or supply flow until the desired pressure is reached and maintained.

Variants include direct-acting and pilot-operated versions, with integrated sensors or optional set‐point modules to enable closed-loop control and diagnostics.

Total Crossed Beams

These valves span a wide range of functionally-rich designs covering various nominal widths, pressure-regulation ranges, and mounting interfaces—ensuring comprehensive coverage of application needs from compact automation to large pneumatic drives.

Beam Pitch Options

Translated to product variant terms:
• Multiple pressure regulation ranges (e.g., vacuum to +10 bar or higher)
• Nominal widths from small to large according to flow requirements
• Input signal types (voltage/current), optional set-point modules or display units
• Mounting styles via manifold, inline, or H-rail formats depending on system architecture

Important: The wide variant-selection allows the valve to be optimised for specific tasks such as precise pressure regulation, dynamic response, compact installation, or high-flow capacity.

Intrinsic Synchronism

Internal control loops and sensors ensure stable pressure output despite fluctuations in input supply or downstream load changes. The valve design ensures minimal hysteresis and high repeat accuracy—maintaining set-point pressure reliably under dynamic conditions.

Operational Advantages

• Continuous and accurate pressure regulation improves control of forces and speeds in pneumatic actuators.
• High dynamic response enables fast reaction to system changes and improved productivity.
• Modular integration and standard interfaces reduce installation effort and downtime.
• Low internal leakage and high repeatability extend service life and reduce maintenance.

Applications: Force control in pneumatic cylinders, blow-moulding, testing stands, packaging machines, vacuum regulation, actuator pressure feed-systems.
